Born in Colombia, she came to the United States when she was 2 years of age. As a little girl she found a great passion in painting and drawing. While in school, Karen took as many art classes as she could, not knowing that these early classes were pivotal in the making of her makeup artist career, and her artistic perspective in the art of makeup itself.
At 16, Karen found an interest in makeup and enrolled in an advanced makeup class. Immediately she realized the fundamental techniques she learned in her earlier art classes translated well into makeup application and creative design. Discovering her propensity to do makeup well, she began winning makeup competitions and focused more of her time learning and improving her craft. Chanel took notice, and she became one of the youngest regional makeup artists in the country. After working at Chanel, she transitioned to M.A.C., where she was certified in all levels of makeup artistry skills.
She always brings imagination, creativity, enthusiasm and a positive spirit to every job. From natural flawless beauty, to celebrity red carpet glamour, to editorial fashion, to avant garde, her passion and main focus is always using makeup as an instrument to bring her client’s vision to life, and that is her ongoing dedication and motivation in her makeup artist career.
